Stellar Marine Releases Test Report of the ESP 2000 Electronic Speed Pilot
Results show that the ESP 2000 improves propulsion performance and
efficiency on a high-speed container ship.
Nanaimo, B.C. - July 10, 2000: -- Bob Speed, President of Stellar
Marine, today
released a report evaluating the ESP 2000 Electronic Speed Pilot
on a 4,400 TEU Container Ship. The introduction of the ESP 2000 marks the
expansion of the highly successful ESP product line. The ESP 1000 was developed
over 10 years ago to improve the propulsion efficiency of workboats. The ESP
2000 is specifically designed for tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships
with slow speed, 2 stroke diesels.
During testing, the vessel achieved the lowest fuel burn ever for the Suez to
Singapore run, based on company records for this class. The ESP 2000 improved
voyage planning by allowing the captain to enter trip data and having the ESP
2000 adjust for load and sea conditions. Tests indicate that fuel savings of
6.7% can be achieved by the vessel using the ESP 2000.
"The success of tests conducted on a 4,400 TEU vessel clearly illustrates the
benefits of our technology in reducing fuel costs," said Bob Speed. "We are now
ready to assist new customers to evaluate the ESP 2000 on their fleet."
Copies of the test report are now available.
